Participation Guidelines
To create a positive experience for everyone, participants will explore and practice:
Being prepared and engaged
-
Arriving on time and staying for the full session helps participants fully engage in activities and build skills over time. During sessions, participants are encouraged to stay present and focused, which typically means keeping phones put away and avoiding earbuds unless needed.
Creating a welcoming environment
-
Participants will interact with younger readers and families, practicing patience, kindness, and respectful communication. Participants will also explore what it means to present themselves in a positive and appropriate way.
Approaching challenges with a positive mindset
-
Trying new things, staying flexible, and working through challenges are all part of the learning experience. Participants are encouraged to take on new activities with curiosity and openness.
What Participants Can Expect from the Library
Guidance and support from staff
-
Library staff will be available during all sessions to provide direction and support learning.
Opportunities to build skills and track participation
